Governor Bill Walker of Alaska China Trade Mission
In May 2018, the Alaskan Governor Bill Watson visited China on a 12-day tour with the goal of forging a relationship between Alaskan seafood suppliers and Chinese seafood consumers.
During the visit the governor and his delegation attended the Alaska Seafood Seminar in Shanghai at the W Hotel, hosted by the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI.) The seminar held suppliers from Copper River Seafood, Golden Harvest Alaska Seafood, Icicle Seafoods, and Senior Directors from Trident Seafood who all shared their delicious and natural products. At the event guests enjoyed King Crab, Snow Crab, Pollock, Black Cod, Cod Fillets, Stingray, Pollock and Herring Roes, and Sea Slug, all of which the attendees found tremendously attractive.
The seminar played a key role in expressing the nutritional benefits of Alaskan seafood, which is a key marketing strategy used to reach the new generation of health conscious consumers. Ultimately, the seminar helped grab the attention of many well known Chinese food suppliers ranging from Luxury hotels such as the Grand Hyatt, E-Commerce giants such as JD and Tmall, and even the high-end grocery chains City Super and Hema. By participating in these events and seminars, consumers are now one step closer to enjoying pure Alaskan Seafood locally in China.
